I miss Arkansas......*Sniff Sniff*
As many of you already know, I used to live in the beautiful state of Arkansas. I was actually born in California and lived there until I was 13 years old - so the terms redneck, hillbilly, and hick are not applicable to me!!! You're probably thinking "Arkansas.....beautiful?? Yeah right." If you are, then you are absolutely correct!!!! Just kidding!!!! It is a very pretty state with green rolling hills, big, old oak trees and large farms with huge colonial style homes nestled in the trees. I think my favorite thing was the farms and ranches with white fences and big red barns with the round bales of hay, it looked so peaceful and pretty. Some days our family would take a drive up to Heber Springs Lake, or we'd go to the little shops in the small surrounding towns. If you like slow paced life and you like to take time to enjoy the small things in life, then you'd probably like Arkansas. On the flip side - the weather, bugs and storms were terrible. I would look out our front door on a summer night and our front porch would be multi-colored mass of bugs, it was not cool! Also, mainly during the spring and summer months, we would have horrific storms. I'm not talking about measly little lightening storms with some rain, I'm talking about thunder that is so loud it literally shakes your house, clouds that turn everything black in the middle of the day, and rain that is so hard and loud you can't hear anything. I'm not exaggerating. If we were out and about during these storms (which we tried to avoid) we would have to literally run into whatever store we needed to go to because the lightening would be so bad! Oh yes, and how could I forget the humidity. It was my job to mow the lawn.....let's just say I am very thankful for Oregon weather! LOL I truly loved Arkansas, and while living there we went to the best church and we had the best pastor, Brother Holmes. I miss the church and all of my friends out there, we've made some awesome memories!!! I am very thankful for that time in my life, at first it was very hard leaving California, but through my parent's prayers, and most of all through God, it was an awesome experience.
