About 8 years ago, on our way back from a family trip, we found the best little puppy
in the world. As we were pulling out of a gas station I noticed a sign across the street that said "free puppies". Of course, we had to pull over and look at them. There were about 7 tiny little puppies in the yard and an older man that greeted us at the gate and told us to come and take a look. Me and my mom got out of the car and it was love at first sight for me. I knelt down to pet the puppies when this tiny, furry black and white puppy came up to me - my mom said, "This is the one we're getting". My dad couldn't disagree once he saw the little thing, she was irresistible...so tiny and sweet and fluffy!
We brought her home and she slept in a little box beside my bed and it was my job to take her out during the middle of the night. Then she graduated to a bigger box because she kept sneaking out of her previous one during the night to explore.
It took me weeks to give her a name, I went through tons, none of which stuck - thank goodness - they were downright goofy. My mom picked the name Kati and I chose how I wanted to spell it. She really has been the best dog, basically a part of our family!
About 2 months ago she had a very sad accident when she was with my dad. He rushed her to the local veterinary clinic and the doctor said that she'd be okay, but he wanted to keep her overnight just in case. He did tests and found out that she had to have surgery on her back leg, but it wouldn't be too bad. Also, her front leg had nerve damage, but we were hoping it would heal without having to amputate it...sometimes that type of nerve damage will heal on its own. We waited....finally, after about 3 days, he said that he'd probably have to amputate the leg because it wasn't healing and infection could set in, so we told him to go ahead. I was devastated - she was always so healthy, she loved to tear around the back yard and chase squirrels...but now she'd be a "tripawd" dog. (Look up tripawd dogs online sometime....they're amazing and they gave me hope for Kati!!!)
Going to pick her up at the vet was the hardest part. She looked so dejected and forlorn - she had been there for almost 2 weeks and was so weak and sick. We brought her home, caring for her, loving her, spoiling her, giving her people food, etc. Lol Right after we brought her home she had some breathing problems, but other than that she seemed to be doing okay. She had her appetite back (extremely greedy) and that was a good sign. After a few weeks she was doing much better.
Now, she's back to her own little self but she still can't walk. She's as spoiled as ever, though, and she has the same spunk as before....she's almost all better!!! :)
Here are a couple of pictures of her......

Spoiled!!
Kati is all better - this was actually taken about 2 weeks ago.

awww Kati girl! you look so cute! How did Chloe respond to her?
Lol! We mostly kept them separated, sometimes they'd both growl at each other, but that's normal for them.
