4-Wheeling on the dunes

I'm going to share a little story about my 4-wheeling experience on the dunes. It was actually last year when this happened and it was Memorial Day weekend. A lot of people from Sacramento had come up here to Coos Bay for the holiday so we decided to get a group together and go have fun on the dunes. It all started perfect, that is until I wrecked into a side of a hill and stalled AND got stuck. I literally started panicking because there was a larger group of us and so nobody noticed when I went missing. I tried getting my 4-wheeler started, but it was to no avail, then I tried moving it, but it was stuck fast...nothing was working and I was petrified. All I could do was look around at the ominous looking sand dunes (they are literally gigantic) and then I realized it was really quiet, there was nobody else around. To my right was a little forest of pine trees and I could imagine a mountain lion or bear lunging out at me at any moment. So in total desperation I did the only thing that seemed logical to me at the moment, I ran. Now, if any of you have ever tried running in sand, you know it is nearly impossible, especially that type of sand because it's really dry so your feet just sink as you run. I didn't care though, I kept running across the dunes. I finally made it to the top of one of the really high dunes and pulled of my helmet and started waving it (thinking MAYBE it would catch somebody's attention). I was praying hard. I finally saw life, there were huge trucks and other 4-wheelers out there, but for some reason it didn't give me any consolation. Not with monster trucks and quads zipping around everywhere, I was scared that one would careen up the other side of the dune and I wouldn't hear it (I was basically thinking of every possible bad scenario). Meanwhile I was getting more and more scared, my shoes were about 20 pounds each due to excess amount of sand in them, but needless to say I took off running again. I stopped at a more open spot and stood there agonizing over what could happen to me out there all by myself.......then I saw something. two girls in skirts on a quad riding around. Well, it was quite obvious to me that they were part of our group, so I started thanking God and yelling (mind you, they had helmets on the covered their ears completely) and waving my helmet violently...but they passed me up. I'm sure you can imagine the disappointment I felt at this very moment - complete despair...but a few moments later they came by again and this time they saw me. I was so excited!!! They had seen my empty quad out there and realized something was wrong, so I guess they circled back around or something. But anyway, the most important thing is that they came by and picked me up and we met up with our group, and Clayton got my quad up and running again. He was just a little upset because it cut into our one hour time limit, but other than that, my very dramatic yet very true story has a happy ending. We thoroughly enjoyed the rest our time out there and then went to a Memorial Day picnic on the beach. ~The End~

That's what big brothers are for...to fix things and then scold you a little for messing them up in the first place!

Glad you were ok...the world just wouldn't be the same without you in it!

LOL! I remember this day well, though I wasn't at the dunes myself, I saw you afterward! I'm glad you posted, it was worth the wait. The dunes are so much fun but I am with you, a little scary at times. I am so glad you were alright, don't know what I'd do without my Stacie Lynne Abigayle Wyatt Marquez Carlson!

Yes I remember this also. Sorry but it makes me laugh every time I hear it. I can just picture the whole thing happening in my head every time. Isn't this the same trip where Emily and James wrecked, and got all beat up.
