I'm taking a break from being bored to post about something that I've been thinking about lately: Chester! To those of you who aren't from California, or you might be but you've never heard of Chester, let me just tell you that it's one of the most beautiful places you'll ever see. Maybe I'm biased because that's where we went on vacations for years and years, but after you see the pictures, I think you'll agree with me about the beauty.
I remember vacationing in Chester every year. It was kind of the highlight of the year for my whole family. We'd pack our truck with our tent, lanterns, fishing poles, sleeping bags, etc. and hit the road to Chester. It was about a 4 hour drive from our home in Sacramento, so me and my brother would bring our portable CD players and we'd be content for about 30 minutes. As we would drive up the winding and curvy roads, our excitement and anticipation would grow with each passing mile. The pine trees would starting coming into view, the air would grow cooler, and the road would become more and more steep.
As we rolled into the "big town," we'd excitedly look around to make sure everything still looked the same (we were very stuck in our ways when it came to Chester). Lol
We'd then head out to our campground, which was right on the shores of Lake Almanor. We'd check in, quickly unpack the truck and starting setting up camp. When we were finished, the fun would begin. We'd ride our bikes all through the hilly camp, we'd fish in the lake for hours, we'd go to the camp library (which was about the size of my bedroom), we'd go to the rustin, log cabin style camp store and buy things...basically, we could entertain ourselves out there for hours.
Of course, my parents and my brother (when he got old enough) would go hunting. We'd get up before it was light, load into our truck and hit the moutains.
