California! Well, not really California, but Mendocino (or The Lord's Land) and Chester, to be precise. You see, they're both in California and they post are stunningly beautiful, but even more significant than their beauty is the dear memories these places hold. My Auntie Pam and Uncle Blaine told my family about The Lord's Land years ago, and then we started taking vacations there together. We would rent a cabin and all of us would meet there (my aunt and uncle and their family). It was so much fun! We'd go ocean fishing, we'd explore the little town of Mendocino, we'd go to the beach, we'd pick blackberries and make blackberry cobbler, we'd play card games around the table while a fire roared in the fireplace, my mom and aunt would cook delectable meals for us, and I personally loved the farm animals that they had there. I could really go on and on and on here, I just have so many good memories. And for some reason, I've been thinking about it a lot lately and thinking how I would absolutely love to take another family trip there.

Chester is just overloaded with magnificent good memories. My parent's started going there before I was born. They were actually on their way somewhere else and they got lost and they ended up in Chester. Well, they fell in love with it while they were there and so the rest is history. Every year, ever since I can remember, our family would pack our truck with tents, lanterns, sleeping bags, fishing poles and bikes and we'd head up to the mountains. I'd break out my tennis shoes, pink dress and Mickey Mouse sweatshirt and I was set for the whole trip. My parents would take us fishing at Deer Creek, we'd eat at Pine Shack and Kopper Kettle as much as we could, we'd visit the camp library (which was the size of my bedroom), we'd buy things at the rustic, log cabin camp store, we'd take our little metal boat out on the lake, we'd hike Mt. Lassen in our T-shirts with snow piled a mile hile and the wind blowing gusts (well, I was the only one in just a T-shirt). My aunts and uncles would sometimes come, my cousins, people from our church, one time even our neighbors came up there. Ahhh...the memories! I don't think there's anything quite like waking up in a tent to the smell of coffee, fresh air and pine trees. Until you've done it, you're missing out! I say, go on those little vacations even if it's for 2 days because your children will always, always remember them and reminisce about them for years to come!

Dear Stacie,
My kids went to the Lord's Land with the youth group camps, but I never had the opportunity to go...would like to some time though (WITH your family!)
But OH how I Do remember our trip to Chester...did we go more than once? I remember all four of us, Uncle Matt, Charlotte, William, and of course Dolly (we didn't have Laddie yet) and the car topper tote all PACKED tightly into that tiny Nissan Sentra. I will forever treasure those memories...just wish Will could go with all of us again sometime!
I love you,
Aunt S
Aaaw Stacie, we make it a point to go to the lordsland at least once a year as a family... Vic has volunteered there for a week for the last 2 years, he says he'd rather take a vacation there and work!
They just finished building a chapel there, its beautiful! I have some pics on facebook of our trip there in october.
